Family Pictures

We took some family pictures on Saturday. Due to some miscommunication with the gal that was going to take them for us didn't make it, which is too bad because she is really good. Anyway we grabbed our camera and decided to take them ourselves. 1. Because we have a limited amount of time before Scott leaves and the weekends are packed. 2. Because it was a miracle my dad got ready and showed up for one photo session and asking for two miracles is pushing it. The pictures may not be the greatest but for taking them ourselves I think they turned out alright. Zach is a master of setting a camera somewhere and jumping in a picture. We didn't have to do quite that because we bought a fancy shamncy remote a while ago so that was nice. The best part was I got some practice with photo shop. I know there is tons to learn on that program but I felt a lot better about learning it once I realized how easy it was just to brighten the colors. This one is my favorite one of the whole shoot. It looks good in color too but I love the faded look.
I won't tell you what I said to get these two to ACTUALLY smile but it was good.

This one was the toughest to photo shop and I still don't think I did that great of a job. In the original photo you can't see Scott's eyes at all so I had to figure out just how to lighten his eyes. It is much better than it was but I'm sure someone who really knows what they are doing could make it better.
My dad actually smiling again. This hardly ever happens so catching twice on camera is pretty darn good. Aww aren't they cute.

The end. So what do you think? Are they okay enough to put on the wall for a couple of years?

May

Well we've had a busy but very fun month. My nephew turned 5 and had a Transformers birthday party. The invitations were nothing short of spectacular. You know at the end of the Transformers movie where Optimus Prime is sending a message to all surviving autobots? Well if you don't go watch it because it's a good movie. Anyway they had my nephew make a CD sending a message to all "partybots" in the family. Clever right? May had lots of fun playing with her cousins, she loves to be with the kids these days not mom and dad.

My brother is being deployed. He will leave for boot camp in August come home for Thanksgiving and then leave to Afghanistan for about a year and a half. He is really excited to go but we are sure going to miss him! He is the really tall one in the middle-in case you were wondering.
Mother's Day weekend was really nice. On Friday May and I went to go see my grandparents. We got to visit with them for a little which doesn't happen as often as it should. My great-grandma (so May's great-great-grandma) is so darn sweet. She just loves to sit and look and May and says that she just has to memorize her face so she doesn't forget what her great-great-granddaughter looks like. She tells May all about how wonderful she is and how she is growing into such a wonderful girl and how she is going to do great things with her life. It breaks my heart that May probably won't understand how much she is loved by this wonderful woman!
That night we went to Zach's brothers house for dinner and to see his mom.
Sunday we went to our good friends' baby blessing. May decided to cheer the primary after they sang their song for the mothers. It was pretty awesome. We had a really good time. There is a set of four of us. The boys all went to high school together and the wives married into the friendship. This was our last chance to see Craig before they move to Nebraska (I get to see Candice one more time at her baby shower). We are so sad they are leaving!

Here is a picture of all of us. There will be 2 boys and 2 girls amongst our families and one of the boys said it's perfect for them to intermarry. Although if May keeps beating up on the little boys they aren't going to want anything to do with her :)

After the luncheon at the park we headed to my parents house for dinner. I was terribly grumpy and probably owe my family a huge apology. In my defense I had just been on a playground in heels chasing May for 3 hours which wasn't the greatest idea. My Dad got us dinner which was nice. Ode to my mom who is so amazing. Not only is she an amazing mom but she is an amazing grandma. She helps me so much and May just loves to go see her. Love you mom!
It must be recorded that Zach let me sleep in on Sunday, he got breakfast ready, made me a mac-and-cheese lunch and did all the dishes. Friday he surprised me with some beautiful flowers and Sunday he gave me a watch. I get a watch on a special occasion at least once a year, they always fall off and get lost and then I am lost, so it's great annual present. Don't I have such a sweet husband?

Ashby Fundraiser

Hi all,

So there is this blog that I follow http://screamandhug.blogspot.com right now she is hosting a fundraiser for the Ashby family. The father of this family had an accident and was the bread winner of the family. So they have little or no income, medical bills that have amounted to 1 million so far, and a disabled father. They have a bunch of cute stuff that has been donated that you buy and then the proceeds are going to this family. Check it out. Seriously.
